Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need anything else to install these steps?
Yes. These front assist steps attach to the Chevrolet/GMC Accessories Rocker Protectors (86528352, Crew Cab). The ZR2 trim comes with these rocker protectors standard, since it is the off-road package and sits taller. Other trims would need the rocker protectors installed separately to mount these steps.
Do these steps fit trucks that are not ZR2?
In practice, these steps are bought almost exclusively by ZR2 owners, since the ZR2 is the only trim that comes standard with the rocker protectors these steps mount to. If your Colorado is not a ZR2, you would need to buy the rocker protectors separately to use these steps, and most non-ZR2 owners instead choose a different assist step or running board product made for their trim.
Is installation difficult?
No. These are a no-drill, bolt-on install once the rocker protectors are in place, using the included attachment kit.
Can I remove these steps for off-road ground clearance?
Yes, that is the point of the removable design. Take them off before hitting the trail and reinstall for everyday step-up convenience.
What is the weight capacity?
Each step is rated to 250 lb.

Great looking steps & fantastic customer service
These steps REALLY look great on my Colorado ZR2 and the customer service I received from Tom was second to none. I will for sure look here for anything else I need in the future!! Thank you Tom!!!! (and the shipping was FAST)
Easy install
Decided to go with the GM removable steps for my Colorado ZR2 that had the rock rails already installed. These steps are really nice to use and make getting in and out of the truck way easier than before. Plus, they keep me from grinding on the seat bolster and stepping on the weatherstripping like i would do before i had these. They are pricey, but the quality is high and they pair well with the rock rails. It's something i use everytime i drive the truck, so i'm going to get my money's worth from them! Crateenginedepot.com has the lowest prices on GM factory parts. Shipping was faster than expected. Very easy process.
