Based on the same Gen V Small-Block architecture of the LT4, the supercharged L8E utilizes the robust iron-block from the L8twwhile adding several new and unique components. The engineering team at Chevrolet Performance took the L8E to the next level combining the strength and durability of the L8T's cast iron block, adding a new forged piston, a new forged steel crankshaft and a proven LT4 1.7L Eaton R1740 TVS Supercharger. The L8E features the same 10:1 compression ratio as the LT4, while maintaining the larger displacement from the L8T (*6.6L vs 6.2L).
The L8E shares several components with the LT4 used in the 2017-2024 Camaro ZL1, including the supercharger, oil pan, oil cooler, Tri-Y exhaust manifolds, water pump, and balancer. Chevrolet Performance's L8E crankshaft features a redesigned piston to accommodate the longer stroke, paired with LT4 connecting rods, A non-AFM camshaft and unique phaser enable precise valve timing control.
The crate engine comes complete from the throttle body to the oil pan, including oil dipstick, oil fill tube and cap as well as PCV and vapor purge lines. It does not include the engine control module, engine wiring harness, oxygen sensors or a front-end accessory drive system.

- Engine is shipped with high-pressure direct-injection fuel pump installed
- Front End Accessory Drive system must be ordered separately
- Includes 8-bolt flex plate for automatic transmissions
- Use with Engine Control Kit 19543368 for 8L90E transmission
