# 89017653 FAQ on LS6 swap for LS1 in F- Body and Corvettes
Q: What car is this engine for? A: 04-05 Cadillac CTS-V
Q: What is the HP. Rating for this engine? A: Same as the Corvette. 405 HP.
Q: what is the difference between this engine and the Corvette Engine? A: The oil pan. (The oil pump and pick-up should be the same).
Q: What needs to be changed on the engine for it to work/fit? A: A 98 to early 99. intake manifold must be changed to the LS6 intake (Some late 99 models already have the redesigned intake). The oil pan must be changed all models. You may also need to transfer the balancer pulley with the appropriate length bolt.
Q: Why is it so much cheaper? A: This is a Goodwrench engine and is a direct replacement engine not a GM Performance engine.
Q: What is the warranty? A: Because it is a Goodwrench engine and it is not going into the vehicle for which it was made, GM only offers a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty which covers only parts. No Labor.
Q: What kind of tuning or reprogramming needs to be done? A: There should not be any reprogramming or tuning that needs to be done. However after it is installed we recommend you get the vehicle dyno tuned to really wake up the horsepower.
Q: Does GM offer any other LS6 swap engines? A: Yes, the GM Performance Parts number is 12498399. It comes with an oil pan kit, also comes with a 2 year 50,000 mile warranty which includes both parts and labor. Keep in mind that his also comes with a bigger price tag. (Better Warranty, Bigger Price, Same Horse power).
Q: How many people have done this swap? A: We know of more than 40 these swaps that have been successfully done, mostly with F-Body cars and some with Corvette's.
Q: Do I have to replace the pilot bushing that comes with the LS6 engine?
A: Yes, you need to replace it with the appropriate one for an LS1 engine.
Side note: we have not had anyone contact us that this hasn't or won't work for their F-Body car.
