| Q. What
are the major benefits of a GM Performance Exhaust System?
A. There are many benefits:
1. Deeper exhaust note compared to the original-equipment
exhaust system
2. Designed for your GM vehicle by GM engineers
3. Does not void the new-vehicle warranty
4. 300-Series stainless steel construction with
semi-polished mufflers
5. Meets or exceeds AL federal decibel requirements,
per SAE J1169 testing procedures
6. Adjustable and interchangeable tips allow
for vehicle personalization
7. Emissions compliant in ALL 50 states
Q. Why is the GM Performance Exhaust System
better than the rest?
A. The GM Performance Exhaust System is designed,
tested, and manufactured specifically for your GM vehicle. GM Performance
Exhaust Systems are made entirely of the highest-quality 300-Series
stainless steel; this includes the cat-back exhaust, the semi-polished
mufflers, and polished tips and fasteners. With semi-polished muffler
and adjustable and interchangeable exhaust tips, the GM Performance
Exhaust System gives GM vehicles owners the opportunity to take vehicle
personalization to the next level.
The 300-Series stainless steel resists surface corrosion altogether,
unlike 400-Series stainless steel used on non-GM exhaust systems.
GM engineers complete numerous tests to ensure that
the GM Performance Exhaust System performs as designed and meets or
exceeds all federal decibel regulations without the need for additional
modifications to the vehicle.
Q. Why doesn't GM advertise horsepower, torque,
and fuel economy increases like most other exhaust manufactures?
A. The results of horsepower, torque, and fuel economy
are very subjective. Changing the cat-back exhaust system alone will
generally provide only modest gains.
Q. Will installing the GM Performance Exhaust
System void the vehicle warranty?
A. No. In fact, the GM Performance Exhaust System
is the ONLY system covered by the New-Vehicle Limited Warranty. See
warranty information.

Q. Is a larger-diameter
pipe and muffler better?
A. No. Several details are considered when developing
a balanced design that enhances maximum engine output, exhaust gas velocity,
and sound. If the diameter of the tubing is too large, the exhaust gas
velocity will be reduced thus depriving the exhaust of thermal velocity.
Q. Is this system louder then factory? And
is it loud enough that a cop would pull me over for it?
A. The cat-back exhaust system meets the 95daA noise
limit imposed by some states on exhaust-system modifications, as measured
by SAE J1169.
Some states and local jurisdictions impose more stringent requirementes.
Be sure to check whether this aftermarket installation meets the noise
limits where you will register and drive your vehicle.
Q. Are special tools needed to install GM
Performance Exhaust Systems?
A. No In fact, GM Performance Exhaust Systems allow
the installer to use all the original-equipment exhaust hangers, permitting
easy installation.
Q. My vehicle came equipped with a stainless
steel exhaust. What's the difference in the "stainless steel"?
A. 300-Series stainless steel is a higher-grade stainless
steel than that of the original-equipment exhaust system. The GM Performance
Exhaust System is made of completely of T-304 stainless steel.
Q. How long does it take to install the GM
Performance Exhaust System?
A. Though installing GM Performance Exhaust Systems
varies slightly from vehicle to vehicle, generally, they can be installed
in 1.5 hours or less.
Q. Where can I buy the GM Performance Exhaust
Systems?
A. CrateEngineDepot.com
